The Garden Route is a 300-kilometre stretch of the route on the south-eastern coast of South Africa. The route starts from Witsand in the Western Cape and heads to the border of Tsitsikamma Storms River in the Eastern Cape.
Its name comes from the diverse vegetation found here. There are also lakes and estuaries along this stunning stretch of coast. There are quite a few towns located in the Garden Route. These include Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Mossel Bay, and Wilderness. George is the biggest city and is the main administrative centre of the Garden Route.
